From 1 November 2025, the Australian Government is making changes to the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP). If you currently receive CHSP services, or are considering them, it’s important to know what’s changing and what you need to do.

At Omnicare, our role is to make these changes simple to understand and guide you every step of the way.

What’s Changing | CHSP changes 1 November 2025

  • From 1 November, all CHSP clients must be registered with My Aged Care and have an aged care assessment in place.

  • Only clients who meet the new eligibility rules will continue receiving government-funded CHSP services.

  • Providers like Omnicare are required by law to ensure services are only delivered to clients who are registered and assessed.

Who Will Be Eligible

You will remain eligible if you are:

  • 65 years or older

  • 50 years or older if you are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander

  • 50 years or older and homeless or at risk of homelessness

  • An existing client who has already been assessed and approved for aged care before 1 November 2025

What You Need to Do

To make sure your services continue after 1 November:

  • Check if you’re registered

  • Do you have an 8-digit My Aged Care ID (AC number)?

  • Have you already had an aged care assessment?

    If you’re unsure

  • Contact Omnicare on 1300 336 488 — our team can check for you

  • Call My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 to confirm your registration

If you’re not registered or assessed

What Happens If You Don’t Register

If you are not registered or assessed by 1 November 2025:

  • You may no longer be able to access CHSP at government-subsidised rates

  • To continue receiving support, you would need to pay the full fee for service

  • In urgent cases, interim support may be provided, but a full assessment will still be required

How Omnicare Can Help

At Omnicare, we’re committed to ensuring your services continue with no disruption. We will:

  • Contact clients who may not yet be registered or assessed

  • Help you with My Aged Care registration and referral paperwork

  • Support you if urgent care is needed while waiting for an assessment

  • Clearly explain your options if temporary fee-for-service care is required

Our goal is to make this transition smooth, simple, and stress-free.
