From 1 November 2025, the Australian Government is making changes to the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP). If you currently receive CHSP services, or are considering them, it’s important to know what’s changing and what you need to do.
At Omnicare, our role is to make these changes simple to understand and guide you every step of the way.
What’s Changing | CHSP changes 1 November 2025
From 1 November, all CHSP clients must be registered with My Aged Care and have an aged care assessment in place.
Only clients who meet the new eligibility rules will continue receiving government-funded CHSP services.
Providers like Omnicare are required by law to ensure services are only delivered to clients who are registered and assessed.

Who Will Be Eligible
You will remain eligible if you are:
65 years or older
50 years or older if you are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
50 years or older and homeless or at risk of homelessness
An existing client who has already been assessed and approved for aged care before 1 November 2025
What You Need to Do

What Happens If You Don’t Register
If you are not registered or assessed by 1 November 2025:

To continue receiving support, you would need to pay the full fee for service
In urgent cases, interim support may be provided, but a full assessment will still be required
