Understanding Your Support at Home Funding & Eligibility
Navigating the new levels of care with Omnicare
Support at Home is an Australian Government initiative designed to help you live safely, happily, and independently in the home you love for as long as possible.

By bringing together a range of personalised services, this program is all about supporting your unique needs, protecting your wellbeing, and ensuring a high quality of life on your own terms.

Understanding Your Home Care Funding Options
Australia has recently transitioned from the Home Care Packages (HCP) program to the more flexible Support at Home (SAH) model. Whether you are already receiving support or are just starting your journey, we are here to help you understand what this means for your budget.

The Existing Program: Home Care Packages (Levels 1–4)

If you are already on a "grandfathered" Home Care Package, your funding is structured across four levels based on the intensity of support required:

Level 1 ($10,687)
Basic care needs.
The new program: Support at Home (Levels 1–8)
The new Support at Home model introduces eight levels of funding. This allows for much more gradual adjustments, ensuring your support grows right alongside your needs without any sudden gaps in care.

Pro Tip: This expanded structure means you get more tailored support and a smoother transition as your lifestyle or health requirements change over time.
Levels 1–2 ($11,000 – $15,000)
Entry-level support for basic to low needs.

Am I eligible for a Support at Home package?
To access this funding, you will need a free assessment to determine your specific care needs. Generally, you may be eligible if you are:

-
65 years or older (or 50 years and over for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people) and need a little extra help to stay at home.

-
A younger person with care needs that aren't met through other specialist services.

Does my income matter? Your income does not affect your eligibility for a package. However, depending on your circumstances, it may influence the contribution you make toward your care. An income assessment through Services Australia is usually the first step here.
