From 1 July 2025, the Support at Home program will reshape how aged care is delivered in Australia. While this new model brings structural changes, one thing remains the same: your rights as a client come first.
At Omnicare, we’ve always operated with a client-first philosophy – and we continue to uphold the Charter of Aged Care Rights, which remains in effect under the new Aged Care Act starting 1 July 2025.
What Rights Do You Have Under Support at Home?
Under the Support at Home program, you are protected by the Charter of Aged Care Rights. This charter ensures you can feel confident, respected and safe while receiving care.
As a participant in Support at Home, you have the right to:
✅ Be treated with dignity and respect
✅ Have your identity, culture and diversity valued
✅ Receive care that is safe, effective and personalised
✅ Be supported to make your own decisions
✅ Receive clear, timely information about your care and services
✅ Be involved in creating and reviewing your support plan
✅ Choose who provides your care, and how it is delivered
✅ Raise concerns or make a complaint without fear
These rights are more than words – they are a legal obligation under the Aged Care Act, ensuring you are an active participant in your care, not just a recipient.
